2011 ITE SF Bay Area Section Transportation Awards Program
Dear SF Bay ITE Member:
Do you know of an outstanding ITE member who has contributed greatly to the regional transportation matters? Do you know someone who played a significant role on a high-profile transportation project, or served as a mentor to students and/or professionals, or contributed greatly to the ITE SF Bay Area activities? Here is your chance to show your appreciation by nominating him/her for the ITE SF Bay Area Professional of the Year Award!
Are you aware of an outstanding transportation project in our region? You may nominate that project for the Project of the Year award.
Send an email to amit.kothari@sfmta.com with "2011 Nomination" in the subject line, and the name and contact information of the person or the project you are nominating by Monday, October 31, 2011. Additional information on the Annual Recognition Awards Program is provided below.
Guidelines for Submitting Nominations
1. 2011 Transportation Professional of the Year
The purpose of this award is to recognize an ITE member who has contributed significantly to the transportation field over the last several years. This candidate could be from a wide spectrum of choices, including (but not limited to) someone who has:
- Been a project manager of a high-profile project;
- Played a significant role in a major project;
- Been an outstanding mentor for students and other professionals;
- Encouraged new innovations/services/products to benefit the field of transportation;
- Contributed significantly to the SF Bay ITE activities and regional transportation goals.
While scoring all nominations, the panel will consider individual's expertise in the transportation field, contributions to their own organization, SFBay ITE and regional transportation efforts, training and mentorship to other individuals, career achievements and recognitions, and other relevant credentials.
The nominee must be a member of the ITE San Francisco Bay Area Section during the period of September 1, 2010 to August 31, 2011. If a selected nominee is not an ITE member, he/she will need to become a member in order to be eligible for the award.
2. 2011 Transportation Project of the Year
The purpose of this award is to recognize innovation and/or creative-thinking in the field of transportation. This could include projects that either:
- Implemented ground-breaking ideas; or
- Developed new services/processes; or
- Implemented innovative design or planning.
All projects will be scored for Innovation, Challenges, Cost Effectiveness and Public Acceptance/Benefit.
The award aims to recognize projects (or phases within very large projects) with a completion date between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011, and taking place within the geographic area covered by the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma and Sonora.
How to nominate:
To nominate an individual for the Professional of the Year award, simply e-mail his/her name and contact information. We will contact the individual to develop a detailed justification for the Review Panel. To nominate for the Project of the Year award, please provide name of the project and name/contact information of the project manager. We will contact the project manager to develop a detailed justification for the Review Panel.
You must show "2011 Nomination" in the Subject line of your e-mail.

Awards Recognition:
Selected winners will be recognized with a commemorative plaque at the SF Bay Area Section ITE meeting in January 2012 and will be featured on the Section website at http://www.sfbayite.org.
