Presidential Proclamation: Declaration of Bond Yee Day Whereas Bond M. Yee is a Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers having held membership since May 24, 1984 with member number 13791, and; Whereas Bond has contributed 32 years to the transportation profession through his extensive work in transit planning and traffic operations for Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade, and Douglas; the City of Oakland; and the City and County of San Francisco including serving as San Francisco’s City Traffic Engineer from 1992 to 2005, and now as acting head of San Francisco’s Department of Parking and Traffic, and; Whereas Bond’s membership and participation with ITE have resulted in substantial accomplishments for the profession, including the development of several professional papers, including “Sansome Street Contraflow Transit Lane: A Public Participation Success Story”, “Residential Permit Parking Informational Report”, “Safety Evaluation of Right Turn on Red”, and “San Francisco, Then and Now – Downtown Pick-up and Delivery”, and; Whereas Bond’s professional papers have been recognized with awards, including a Certificate of Recognition by the Traffic Engineering Council and a Best Paper Award by the Goods Movement Council, and; Whereas Bond has been extraordinarily supportive of Department of Parking and Traffic staff’s involvement in ITE activities, including as officers, on special committees and in attending meetings, and; Whereas Bond has shown great commitment to student interns at the DPT by personally paying for their attendance at the year-end ITE meeting each year, and; Whereas Bond is recognized as an extremely talented, respected and humble person, and; Now therefore be it resolved, that on June 23, 2005, the President of District 6 and the San Francisco Bay Area Section declare Bond Yee Day to recognize Bond M. Yee for his significant contributions and leadership and gratefully acknowledges his efforts in the betterment of the rewarding profession of transportation engineering.
