An Insider’s Look at the California MUTCD

On May 20, 2004, the California Department of Transportation adopted the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 2003 as amended by the California Supplement, which superseded and replaced all traffic control device topics in the 1996 Caltrans Traffic Manual. Aimed at practitioners already familiar with the MUTCD, the upcoming workshop will go beyond mere background information, providing details on important changes affecting traffic control devices and addressing your questions. This joint ITE/EBTE workshop will help you get the most out of the FHWA’s MUTCD 2003 and the California Supplement.

INSTRUCTORS

Johnny Bhullar is a Senior Transportation Engineer with Caltrans’ Division of Traffic Operations in Sacramento.

Matt Schmitz is a Safety/Traffic Engineer with Federal Highway Administration's California Division Office in Sacramento.
