Evaluation of Traffic Signal Displays for Protected/Permissive Left Turn Control
Thursday, September 28, 2006

Click here for printable .PDF announcement.

This year, the Federal Highway Administration issued an "Interim Approval for Optional Use of Flashing Yellow Arrow for Permissive Left Turns." This new milestone in the evolution of left-turn signal control merits the attention of transportation professionals.

Join us at this meeting to learn from a veteran traffic engineer who has closely tracked development of this pending MUTCD standard.

Glenn Grigg will share with us the highlights of NCHRP research on protected/permissive left turns, the evolution of signal displays used for such control, analysis of the effectiveness of current standard displays vs. flashing yellow arrows, conclusions, and the process for implementing the new standard prior to the next MUTCD edition.

Featuring a Presentation By

GLENN GRIGG: Consulting Traffic Engineer; Retired City Traffic Engineer, City of Cupertino.
