The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is a unique public agency. With an annual budget of almost $800M and 5,000 employees, it has jurisdiction over all modes of surface transportation in San Francisco, including public transit, pedestrians, automobile traffic, bicycles, freight, and taxis. SFMTA is in a watershed period. While facing the current difficult economic environment, the organization is attempting to improve service in all modes while simultaneously improving its financial stability.
