GRAND PRIZE: Team Scramble Ray Davis, City of Belmont Gary Tsunami, City of Stockton Ray Santiago, City of West Sacramento WINNER: Closest-to-the-pin Contest John Templeton, City of Concord WINNER: Long Drive Contest Mike Tassano, City of Pleasanton The proceeds from the tournament totaled $1552.58. The ITE Section contributed an additional $48.42 from its general fund, resulting in contributions of $800 to the ITE Student Scholarship Fund and $800 to the charity Katie's Clinic for Rett Syndrome.

The ITE Section was honored to present the donation check in person to the clinic's namesake, Katie, and her parents at the ITE luncheon in San Francisco on September 15, 2005.

Comments from the Director:

The 2005 tourney was held on a beautiful, but windy spring day. The wind coming off the Bay helped to create a Scottish feel for the tournament.  Many balls were lost and many golfers cursed their own skills. The Closest to the Pin contest was won by John Templeton of the City of Concord, who happily completed his pressure ridden birdie putt.  The Long Drive was powered through the wind and onto the fairway by Mike Tassano of the City of Pleasanton. The grand prize of the team scramble format was taken with a low score of minus 6, by the threesome of Ray Davis (City of Belmont), Gary Tsunami (City of Stockton) and Ray Santiago (City of West Sacramento) who were forced to play without their anchor, John Kluga.  Prizes consisted of golf hats and knick-knacks that no one ever really needs; the true prize was the spirit of camaraderie that we all shared that day.

Virtually all the participants expressed positive feedback regarding the course, the event, the charitable causes, and their overwhelming desire not only to return next year, but to encourage more participants to join the frivolity in the future.  Although we did not reach our lofty goal of raising $2,000, I believe we made a huge stride in turning this event into an annual fundraising bonanza. We have challenges regarding scheduling and recruiting sponsors and players, but I propose a goal of raising $3,000 for next year's event.
