The Passing of a Friend and Leader, Bill Marconi

It is with great sadness that we report that William (Bill) Marconi passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Bill was a dear friend and a respected leader, serving as Director of Traffic Engineering for the City of San Francisco, international president of ITE, and chairman of ITE's Western District. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 14th, at St. Agnes Church at 1025 Masonic (at Oak St) in San Francisco. The viewing will be at 9:30 AM and Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. View Bill's obituary, where you may sign the guest book and post condolences & remembrances. A sympathy card will be available to sign at the ITE/WTS Meeting on October 16 in San Francisco.

Balloting for Bylaws Revisions 2007: The votes are in!
|
|
Thank you for casting your votes during the balloting for proposed changes to the Section's Bylaws. The votes have been counted, and all four Amendments passed with at least a 90% majority of all votes submitted. Once the revised Bylaws are approved by District 6 Leadership, you may notice some changes in the Section's governance over the next year. The most noticeable changes will be that the Secretary-Treasurer's position will be separated into two offices, and we may begin to conduct secret balloting by means other than US Mail (such as electronic voting). Call for Projects for Caltrans' Highway Safety Improvement Program

Caltrans just released the Call for Projects for the
2006/2007 Cycle of SAFETEA's new Highway Safety Improvement
Program (HSIP). Project applications are due to Caltrans
by April 13, 2007, with high priority given to projects that
can be designed and advertised for construction prior to
September 30, 2007. The total available funding is $27
million. Application guidelines for this Call for Projects
are nearly identical to TEA21's Hazard Elimination Safety

ITS Deployment Workshop: Lane Tolling and Congestion Pricing

ITS California’s Northern Section and the California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT), along with our ITE section, are proud to introduce a joint lunchtime workshop series that focuses on the deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems in California. The first workshop will take place in Berkeley on March 19, 2007 and will highlight examples of successful applications presented by a panel of industry experts in Lane Tolling and Congestion Pricing.
