APWA SV / SBTOA Worksop:
"Design and Planning Elements to Make Complete Streets Work”

By:
John LaPlante, PE, PTOE, Director of Traffic Engineering for T.Y. Lin International in Chicago, and
Paul Zykofsky, AICP, Associate Director of Local Government Commission in Sacramento

They will conduct a 2-hour workshop on the planning and design elements that go into making Complete Streets happen. The State of California and many local governmental agencies have adopted Complete Streets policies, but there is still much confusion on what this means in terms of actually creating a Complete Streets culture and seeing the results in our communities. John and Paul are both National Complete Streets Coalition instructors and have helped communities across the country draft and then implement their Complete Streets policies. The workshop will incorporate interactive exercises designed to help participants see how they can begin the Complete Streets process in their own work situation.

APWA SV / SBTOA Luncheon Presentation:
"Complete Streets: Who Benefits and Who Pays?

By:
John LaPlante, PE, PTOE, Director of Traffic Engineering for T.Y. Lin International in Chicago

He will follow up the morning workshop with a presentation on the benefits and potential costs (and cost savings) to be expected with the full implementation of a Complete Streets program. He will deal with some of the myths about Complete Streets and how we can begin moving forward in making all of our street networks complete.
