ITE Meet and Greet at SCU: Presentation on San Jose Rail Signal Retiming Project

Approximately 30 students attended an informational session on ITE and transportation careers. Students had the opportunity to talk with ITE professionals Murali Ramanujam, Patty Camacho, and Brian Macias, as well as professor Dr. Rachel He. Approximately 22 students expressed interest in becoming student ITE members and eventually forming an ITE Student Chapter at Santa Clara University.

Brian Macias, P.E.,
is a Senior Associate Transportation Engineer with DKS Associates. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1999. After moving to Denver, Colorado, to work for a Civil Engineering firm from 1999 to 2001, Mr. Macias returned to San Jose and has worked with DKS ever since.

Patty Camacho
is an Associate Transportation Engineer with DKS Associates. Ms. Camacho has over five years experience in transportation engineering and planning, including school studies, corridor studies, environmental impact analysis, and traffic and parking studies. Ms. Camacho served as project engineer for the City of Santa Clara and Santa Clara University Parking Study. She is currently deputy project manager for the BART Seismic Retrofit/Safety Project. Ms. Camacho is a member of the ITE - San Francisco Bay Area Section and founder and coordinator of the STEP (Students in Transportation Engineering and Planning) Mentor Program. She was nominated for the ITE District 6 Young Professional Achievement Award in 2005 for her work and contributions to the students and the transportation industry. She enjoys running, hiking and planning her upcoming wedding.

Murali Ramanujam, P.E.,
is an Assistant Transportation Engineer with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). He is the ITE SF Bay Area's Student Outreach Coordinator for universities in the South Bay.
