The ITE San Francisco Bay Area Section – Students in Transportation Engineering & Planning (STEP) Mentoring Program is a one-on-one program dedicated to building long-term relationships while furthering personal growth and career development. The mentee is a college student who is paired with a mentor from which to learn and receive guidance. The mentor is a junior or senior professional who has experience in the area that the mentee is interested in developing and is willing to steward the growth of the mentee.

STEP Mentoring Program Overview
The STEP Mentoring Program is a one year commitment between the mentor and mentee. The timeline for the 2015-2016 program is as follows:
Applications – October 21, 2015 (NEW EXTENDED DEADLINE)
Applications from interested mentors and mentees are due by October 21, 2015.
Selection – Late October
Tentative matches between mentor and mentee candidates will be made based on the mentee’s preferences and needs in late October. Mentor and mentee candidates will have the opportunity to interview each other before final matches are made in early November.
Six-Month and One-Year Evaluation Form
Mentor and mentee pairs will be asked to complete a six-month and one-year evaluation to discuss the program and provide feedback on the STEP Mentoring Program.
ITE Student Membership
Students can join ITE as a Student Member, and ITE will waive dues for the first full year of membership!
