View Larger Map BACKGROUND This workshop will familiarize participants with the format, applicability and compliance aspects of the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). It will cover some recent changes that have been recommended for inclusion into the California MUTCD by the California Traffic Control Device's Committee (CTCDC). Compliance with the National MUTCD Revision No. 2, dealing with minimum levels of sign retro-reflectivity will be discussed. Attendees will be exposed to some of the amendments that have been proposed by FHWA for inclusion into the next edition of the National MUTCD. Some recently adopted policies per CHP's Older Californian Traffic Safety Task Force (OCTSTF) related to older drivers and pedestrians and encouraged for use by California's Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) will be highlighted.
